KnoEdg.NYC brings together information about New York City from publicly available sources, making connections among the city’s places, people, organizations, events and systems easier to explore.

Sources may include official data, government publications, archives, research, journalism, public websites, social media, and public information shared by people and organizations.

Rather than blending everything into a single account, KnoEdg.NYC keeps each source visible—including its purpose, perspective, timing and limitations. This makes it possible to explore connections while also seeing where information agrees, differs or changes over time.

Public accessibility does not necessarily permit information to be copied or redistributed. What KnoEdg.NYC can display depends on the rights and conditions associated with each source.

KnoEdg.NYC is in early development. Its coverage and ways to explore the city will expand progressively as additional sources and subjects are reviewed.

Why “KnoEdg”?

KnoEdg is derived from knowledge and can also be read as “no edge.” Knowledge is open and unbounded, and its edges are often fuzzy rather than discrete—shaped by context, perspective, evidence and time.
